Dan grew up in Hendersonville, North Carolina and is a graduate of Kentucky Military Institute and the University of North Carolina at Asheville where he earned a BA degree in Political Science in 1971. Upon graduation from college, Dan was commissioned a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force and served the next 26 years until his retirement in 1997 with the rank of full Colonel. Dan's military service includes world-wide assignments to Germany, the Republic of Korea, Honduras, Saudi Arabia, and Warsaw Poland. During his military career he commanded three combat rated squadrons supporting operations in Desert Shield/Desert Storm and missions during the Bosnia-Herzegovina conflict in the early 1990s.

Upon retiring from the Air Force, Dan entered law school at the University of South Carolina, graduating in 2000 with a Juris Doctor Degree. He was admitted to practice in South Carolina in November of 2000 upon passing the State BAR Examination. Dan served as law clerk to a Circuit Court Judge and later as a State Prosecutor (Assistant Solicitor) in both Richland and Union Counties, South Carolina. After serving as a prosecutor, Dan entered private practice focusing on Family law, criminal defense. With his legal experience and experience working with people from all backgrounds, Dan founded the Law Office of Daniel D. Kienker, LLC where he continues to focus primarily in the practice of family law, and criminal defense.

Dan is admitted to practice before all State Courts in South Carolina, The Federal District Court for South Carolina, and the Federal Court for Veteran Appeals. He is a member of the Richland and Lexington County Bar Associations and a past member of the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association.
